The first mistake that most guys make is that they start the first date and talk all about themselves, kind of strut around telling the girl that he has got this car, and he's got this career and he talks and talks and talks bragging about this and that attempting to impress the girl that he is a good catch.
What a girl sees is a self-centered ego maniac that's not going to be able to take care of her at all, because he isn't interested in her and does not listen to what she wants to say. A bad relationship prospect.
One other way of saying it is that guys try to be interesting. They figure they need to be interesting for a girl to be interested in them. Sorry guys, but it does not work exactly that way. You have to be keen on the girl, not interesting to obtain her attention. Did you ever see two interesting people on a date. It's hilarious! They're both so busy trying to be interesting to the other that neither has time to be interested in the other.
If you do not know what I am speaking about, think what makes you feel better. A girl who is serious about you? Or a girl who is telling you how cool she is, how hot she really is, and so on, and all kinds of other interesting issues.
Interesting leads to a lot of rejections and "platonic" friendships incidentally. Girls will be friends with a guy who is interesting. Why? Girls love to be amused and entertained. Interesting men are kind of like children to them. An origin of non-sexual amusement and pleasure.
